After 11 months of intensive work, GCO is launching its Dry Extraction Unit to increase production by 10%. The SDM generates 104 jobs, bringing the total number of jobs created by GCO’s activities to over 1,700, 97% of which are held by Senegalese talents.

The SDM is a tracked Dry Extraction Unit that recovers mineral-rich pockets and complements the production made by the dredger. The result: optimal development of the Grande Côte deposit.

The philosophy and operational design of the SDM are a combination of South African technologies, where the unit was designed by the ADP Group, Japanese where the loaders were manufactured, and Senegalese with the assembly that was carried out by the local company Challenge 2000.

So many achievements that make Tim Madden, Manager of the Dry Unit, and his teams proud, referring to the scale of the project, its impact on production, its uniqueness and the expectations it raises.

For GCO’s General Manager, Guillaume Kurek, “with the launch of this new equipment, we are implementing a vision, that of becoming the benchmark in all dimensions of our activity, thanks to formidable teams that allow GCO to position itself more as a leading partner of Senegal, at the forefront of mining technologies and responsible management of its activities.”
