Our Industrial Sites

Eramet Grande Côte’s mineral sands concession stretches 106 kilometers along the Atlantic coast and extends inland up to 4 kilometers. The two processing plants are located in Diogo, while the mineral deposit is situated in the dunes of the Thiès and Louga regions.

Two of the mining installations, known as Wet Concentration Plants (WCP) – the dredge and the heavy mineral sand concentration plant – are unique in being “mobile”: they move approximately 7 to 13 kilometers per year, presenting both technical and human challenges. As they advance, they pass through communities that are relocated. To ensure its production, Eramet Grande Côte also relies on a second sand separation plant (MSP), a power plant, as well as transportation infrastructure (railway) and mineral storage facilities at the Port of Dakar.

The abundant but low-grade natural resources have necessitated significant investments (Our activities), amounting to approximately US$800 million, to make their economic exploitation viable. The project has a lifespan of at least 25 years.

Eramet Grande Côte generates over 2,000 jobs, 97% of which are held by Senegalese nationals. Trained by top experts, local teams have progressively taken over operations in each unit: mining, separation plant, concentration plant, and transportation.
