Regular lab checks are essential for ensuring product quality. The GCO laboratory, a key part of the quality control process, is stocked with latest-generation equipment, including X-ray fluorescence spectrometers and precision scales.
Each product at a given stage of production – from ore extraction to shipping – is analyzed by the lab to ensure that its quality is in line with the required specifications.
ISO certification
In 2020, GCO became the first mining company in Senegal to receive ISO 14001 certification for its environmental management system. This certificate shows that each employee has incorporated the recommendations of this international standard. Best practice in this field is integrated into GCO’s environmental management system.
Every major environmental issue, including water and waste management, is also managed jointly with all stakeholders involved in the Resettlement Action Plan.The company is in the process of seeking ISO 50001 certification in 2021. As with the previous certificate, GCO strives to have an energy management policy that complies with the highest international standards.
